Origins of the Twin Reverb
Fender introduced the Twin Reverb in 1963 as part of its blackface series, delivering 85 watts through a 2x12 configuration with the 6L6GC power tubes and a solid-state rectifier in later versions.
Silverface Transition
Beginning in late 1968, Fender switched to silver control panels and made circuit adjustments including a master volume option on some models, marking the start of the silverface era that lasted until 1982.
Notable Users and Evolution
Players including Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Edge, and Mike Campbell used silverface Twins for their projection and effects; the amp evolved with changes to the bias supply and speaker choices while retaining its core AB763 circuit topology.
