Joe Bonamassa is a New York-born blues-rock guitarist whose thick, vocal tone is built on vintage Gibson Les Paul Standards—especially 1958–60 sunbursts such as the 1959 “Principal Skinner”—played into loud British and American tube amps. He bought a 1987 Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 in 1994 and has used that head on essentially every gig since; early-2010s tours also ran a Marshall JCM2000 Dual Super Lead with delay and rotary in the loop. An Ibanez Tube Screamer (often a vintage TS808) has been the constant mid-hump overdrive in front of those amps.

The current stage is a multi-amp switcher wall: two Silver Jubilees into EV-loaded cabs, vintage Dumble Overdrive Specials, and Fender high-powered Twins—tube JB Edition heads plus, on 2026 tours, Tone Master digital versions to cut truck weight. Pedals stay mostly stock Sweetwater gear—Dunlop JB95 wah, TS808, Boss DD-2, Hughes & Kettner Rotosphere, Fulltone Supa-Trem, and the Way Huge Conspiracy Theory Klon-style drive he co-designed—while the 2025 Fuchs JB-ODS is his Dumble-inspired signature combo for smaller gigs.
