Rock St. Vincent

Annie Clark records and tours as St. Vincent, an art-rock guitarist whose breakthrough records were built on a lightweight 1967 Harmony H15V Bobkat with gold-foil pickups, slammed into a late-1970s Fender Princeton Reverb. On Strange Mercy (2011) she kept the chain short: Death by Audio Interstellar Overdriver Deluxe into that Princeton, with a Boss PS-5 Super Shifter for the motorcycle-rev portamento on "Cruel." Eventide PitchFactor and Space sat on an RJM MIDI-switched board so her keyboard player could change patches while she sang and played.

She moved to an Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee for the Love This Giant tour, then designed the 2016 Music Man St. Vincent — three DiMarzio mini-humbuckers, angular body — and ran it live through a Kemper Profiler with two Eventide H9s and a Bixonic Expandora for the Masseduction years. That digital chapter is finished. For Daddy's Home (2021) and All Born Screaming (2024) she wanted air moving again, recording the current Music Man Goldie (gold-foil mini-humbuckers) through a Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker and a Roland JC-40. Live, Goldie is still home base, with a vintage Boss VB-2 vibrato covering the Prince-style warble she cut on the new record.
