Way Huge Brand Origins
Jeorge Tripps founded Way Huge Electronics in 1992 in California, initially hand-building pedals in small batches before the brand was acquired by Dunlop Manufacturing in 2000. The company became known for colorful, high-gain circuits such as the Swollen Pickle and Fat Sandwich.
Joe Bonamassa Collaboration
Bonamassa first partnered with Way Huge on the 2019 Deep State Overdrive, a pedal voiced to his preference for British-style tube breakup and midrange push. The Blackout edition followed as a stealth-finished variant with the same core voicing and updated cosmetics.
Signature Circuit Details
The Deep State uses a dual-stage op-amp design with selectable midrange voicing and a separate clean blend control. This architecture evolved from earlier Way Huge overdrives while adding the specific EQ tweaks requested by Bonamassa for live use with Dumble-style and Marshall amplifiers.
