JHS Pedals Origins
Josh Scott founded JHS Pedals in 2007 in Kansas City, initially building hand-wired overdrives before expanding into signature collaborations that emphasize circuit experimentation and artist input.
Third Man Hardware Partnership
Third Man Hardware, launched by Jack White in 2013, focuses on analog gear that supports his preference for simple, high-output signal chains; the Troika collaboration began around 2019 as an effort to combine three classic-style overdrive voicings into one road-ready unit.
Design Evolution and Artists
The final Troika circuit evolved through multiple prototypes tested by White and JHS engineers, resulting in selectable modes that reference 1970s British stack tones, RAT-inspired distortion, and a custom high-headroom stage. Players such as Jack White, as well as session guitarists favoring JHS pedals, have used the Troika on recordings and tours for its ability to cover rhythm and lead textures without additional pedals.
