Rock The Pinheads Marty McFly

Marty McFly is the teenage guitarist and time traveler from the Back to the Future films. His signature moment is the 1955 Enchantment Under the Sea dance, where he plays a cherry-red Gibson ES-345 fitted with a Bigsby and delivers an ahead-of-its-time version of Johnny B. Goode complete with power chords, feedback and two-handed tapping. In 1985 he also used a black Ibanez Roadstar II for the Battle of the Bands audition and an Erlewine Chiquita travel guitar into Doc Brown's enormous garage amplifier.

The sequels move the story forward: Back to the Future Part II shows an older Marty in 2015 with a sparkle-blue PRS CE 24. The original ES-345 prop vanished after the first film and Gibson spent years searching for it. In 2025 Gibson Custom Shop and Epiphone released limited screen-accurate replicas of that cherry ES-345, giving players the first chance to own a production version of Marty McFly's most famous guitar.
