The Fender Custom Shop introduces the 1961 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic. More than sixty years after its initial release, this bass is packed with details and a vibe that transports guitarists back to the early 1960s.

The elegantly sculpted, two-piece body crafted from select alder is finished with a Heavy Relic lacquer in Super Faded Aged Shell Pink. This expertly aged treatment is designed to evoke decades of the most demanding playing and touring experiences—from serious dings and scratches to faded hardware, these Heavy Relic® basses look like true, time-tested workhorses.

The quarter-sawn maple neck features a '60s-style "U" back, a flat-laminated rosewood fingerboard, and a period-correct, matching lacquered headstock for an iconic golden era look and feel.

Other premium features include a 7.25-inch radius, 20 medium vintage (47095) frets, Custom Shop hand-wound vintage Jazz Bass® pickups, vintage wiring with concentric volume and tone controls, a 4-ply brown shell pickguard, a vintage-style 4-saddle bridge with threaded steel saddles, vintage-style tuners, a bone nut, string guide, a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and a certificate of authenticity.
