1967 Fender Bassman Amp AB165 Silver Face Drip Edge
Up for sale, here is a 1967 Fender Bassman Amp 5--Watt head from the early run of Silverface Drip Edge amps, wired with the coveted AB165 circuit. As many of you know, these early transitional Silverface amps are essentially identical to their Blackface AB165 counterparts inside, with the only real difference being the aesthetics, which makes them one of the best values in vintage Fender amplification today. The Drip Edge aluminum grey/blue grille trim is a short lived feature found only on these late ’60s units and a favorite among collectors.
The Bassman needs little introduction. It has become a favorite among guitarists and bass players alike, both on stage and in the studio. Its two channels give you plenty of tonal range, from tight and round low end to sparkling, articulate tones.
The amp is mainly all original, including all transformers dated 1967, the cabinet, grey with blue grille cloth and tube chart label. The only modification is an extra speaker output added by a previous owner, which does not affect the circuit. Beyond that, the tubes and some capacitors have been replaced as part of normal maintenance, and the amp has just been serviced, fitted with a three prong power cord for safety and a newer back cover. The power tubes are Ruby Tubes and the preamp tubes are Tung-Sol. Aesthetically, the amp is in great shape overall and pretty clean for its age and it sounds excellent as you can expect.
It ships out professionally packed and fully insured to Continental US and select international destinations.
