About This Listing

Mick Mars Inspired Fender Custom Shop Strat w RARE JM Rolph Pickups. Motley Crue

I have out less than 5 min playtime on this To test functionality: It’s basically brand new. Has less play time than new floor model in a guitar shop.

This guitar build was heavily inspired by Mick Mars and his Izabella guitars. Included in the photos is the order sheet and custome shot build sheet. But here are a few of the highlights

This guitar took over two years for them to build. Not included the 4/5 months of getting all the details worked out before placing the order. This guitar was suppose to be built by a team builder in the custom shop but due to the huge delay, they ended up having a master builder do the work. (Take that for what that’s worth)

Some highlights of the build:

3 Rare Custom JM Rolph pick ups. ($800 value just in these pickups)  Jim makes these specifically for Mick and somehow I managed to get some made myself.

Mick goes with theses Hand-wound boutique pickups because they are high-output (around 16k) designed for high output and clarity rather than muddy distortion.

As per an article in Vintage Guitar Magazine here is what Mick had to say.

“For what I do, I need to have bridge and neck humbuckers and a single-coil in the center. The pickups are high-output, but not high-distortion. I think normal output is 7.5k to 8k, and mine are around 16k. It's not for the purpose of increasing distortion, it's part of my tone; it resonates better. I don't know exactly how to explain it, but if I put a different pickup in it, it's like night and day. It's not so much distortion as it is a higher-output guitar.”

“So I got a set from Jim and they screamed.”

Body is Alder Roasted, sorted for low weight.

SURFACE MOUNTED Floyd rose. Just like Micks

Finish is Relic Ready. Meaning it has less coats of finish on it so it will show wear quicker. It’s like relic’ing your own guitar with your own playing. Not relic’d in a custom shop.

Roasted Neck

Large vintage headstock

Rosewood fingerboard sorted for dark color

Truss rod adjustment is at the headstock for easy access

Mother of Pearl inlays

60s style Oval C neck shape

Narrow Tall Frets

Original build pick ups will also be included.

See build sheet for neck dimensions and more.
