A classic 50s-style Les Paul Standard—now with even more vintage charm!

The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble offers all the features and performance of our regular Les Paul Standard 50s models, but with an extra dose of vintage charm. These limited-edition Les Pauls differ from the standard Les Paul Standard 50s models in two key respects. First, the Burstbucker 1 and Burstbucker 2 pickups feature an open-coil design and are equipped with standard Alnico 2 magnets. The second difference lies in the finish. The finish colors are "Vintage" variants of the standard nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. While Gibson’s standard gloss nitrocellulose finishes replicate the look of brand-new models from the 1950s, the high-gloss "Vintage" nitrocellulose finishes on the Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble models appear slightly faded compared to the standard versions—evoking the subtle, light aging that naturally occurs over the course of many years. The burst patterns vary slightly from guitar to guitar, as each is individually hand-sprayed.

Naturally, all the standard features that make the Les Paul Standard 50s models so popular remain intact, including a solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body with an AA figured maple top, as well as a rounded, vintage-style 50s mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and trapezoid inlays. The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble is equipped with an ABR-1—the classic Tune-O-Matic bridge—an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons, and aged Gold Top Hat control knobs with pointers. The uncovered, calibrated Burstbucker 1 (neck) and Burstbucker 2 (bridge) pickups are internally identical to their standard Burstbucker counterparts, but are housed in Double Classic White bobbins. Handcrafted at the Gibson Pickup Shop, they feature Alnico 2 magnets and are hand-wired with audio-taper potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors. The Double Classic White pickup bobbins and vintage-style finishes lend the Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble an elegant vintage character.
