Gibson '61 Burstbucker Pickups: Gibson Burstbucker 61R and 61T pickups, found in Les Paul Standard '60s models and Les Paul Classics, use Alnico V magnets and are wound with 5261 winds on the screw side and 5000 on the slug side. They are designed to replicate the subtle variations of classic humbucker tones with historically unbalanced coil windings. The 61R (neck) and 61T (bridge) pickups are wound identically, reflecting the historical practice of using the same pickup for both positions. Detailed Specifications:

  • Magnet: Alnico V
  • Winding: Both have 5261 winds on the screw side and 5000 on the slug side
  • Output: Medium (vintage-voiced)
  • Wiring: Four-conductor shielded with quick connectors
  • Finish: Zebra coil with chrome covers
  • DCR: Neck pickup 7.8k, bridge pickup 7.8k, both pickups in parallel 3.9k
  • Sound: Known for a bright and smooth tone with clarity, especially when overdriven, achieving a magical distortion with slightly enhanced highs
  • Designed for Les Paul Standard '60s models, but also found in other Gibson models.

Pickup configurations:

  • 1. Neck humbucker
  • 2. Neck and bridge humbuckers in phase
  • 3. Bridge humbucker
  • 4. Neck single coil
