About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1979 Greco EG900 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Crafted at the Fujigen factory in Japan, this “lawsuit era” Greco predates the highly lauded Super Real series of instruments by only a few months, boasting premium features including a pair of USA-made DiMarzio PAF humbuckers with double cream bobbins.

Taking a page from Gibson's early 1970s playbook, tonewoods include a two-piece maple top over a sandwich mahogany body, and a three-piece mahogany neck capped with a dark rosewood fingerboard. At 9lbs 9oz, this Greco dishes out ample natural sustain and liveliness, qualities that are translated faithfully through the Dimarzio PAF humbuckers. These pickups are rich and articulate, with growl and power in the bridge position, balanced by a present, smooth neck pickup. This EG900 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

  • Wood: Mahogany (three-piece)
  • Shape: Medium ‘60s-style C, measuring .835” 1st fret, .975” 12th fret
  • Fretboard: Rosewood, pearloid flared trapezoid inlays
  • Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
  • Scale Length: 24 3/4”
  • Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
  • Tuners: Gotoh (nickel-plated)
  • Serialization: I79-prefix (September, 1979)
  • Factory Markings: “EG900 Greco Guitar” sticker on back of peghead

  • Hardware: ABR-1-style bridge, stopbar (nickel-plated)

The gloss Black finish exhibits light pick scuffing on top, one ding just below the bridge pickup Volume knob, and nicks and finish scratches in the clear coat. The gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.

The original black tolex hardshell case with aluminum trim is included.
