Kay Archtop from the 1940s. Blonde with spruce top. Based on the level of trim, I think it’s a pressed -not carved-top. Back and sides are highly flamed maple (probably ply, not solid). Lower bout is 16 inches. I don’t see any stamp inside the body, and there are no markings anywhere to ID the model. Cool art deco headstock inlay and tortoise shell binding (binding is in good condition). I bought this guitar in Atlanta about 30 years ago. No truss rod. My tech -who used to work on the instruments of a who’s who of Atlanta and Athens musicians- removed the fingerboard and installed carbon fiber rods in the neck for stability. This is a technique used by many high-end builders, and the neck has indeed stayed straight and stable ever since. The neck is a nice ‘C’ shape and is VERY comfortable. Other than the tuning keys, I believe it is all original. Just strung up with a set of Martin Bronze 12s and it plays well. The frets could probably use a dressing to get it in to tip-top playing condition, but it plays fine as-is. Will ship in a gig bag.
CONUS only. Thanks for looking.
