About This Listing

I am offering here a Gibson Southern Jumbo Original VS from 2022, a crafted in Bozeman, Montana (USA), all-solid-timber acoustic guitar featuring the legendary Slope Shoulder Dreadnought design, resonant Sitka spruce top over traditional X-bracing, back and sides made of warm-souding mahogany, set mahogany neck with SlimTaper neck profile and 43.8mm bone nut, bound rosewood fingerboard with intricate split parallelogram mother-of-pearl inlays, Grover Open Gear vintage tuners, and L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup system in a beautifully graded Vintage Sunburst high-gloss nitrocellulose finish with tortoise pickguard and multi-ply cream binding in very good condition, including black Gibson hardshell case, manufacturer’s paperwork, and professional setup with 12-53 Elixir 80/20 strings.

As a deluxe upgrade to the J-45, this Gibson Southern Jumbo Original VS carries on the legacy of the icon from Gibson’s Round Shoulder acoustic line. The popular all-solid Round Shoulder Acoustic Gibson Southern Jumbo is considered an absolute classic and was first introduced in 1942. Thanks to its wide dynamic range with warm mids and powerful bass, it still shares the affectionate nickname “Workhorse” with the J-45 to this day.

Like the original from the 1940s, this modern interpretation features a solid mahogany back and sides, as well as a solid Sitka spruce top, which is given ample space to resonate thanks to traditional X-bracing. The rosewood fingerboard, edged with cream binding, is adorned with glossy split parallelogram mother-of-pearl inlays, and the set mahogany neck features a comfortable, slim SlimTaper neck profile.

The fantastic woods and high-quality craftsmanship of the Gibson Bozemann workshop produce a wonderfully warm and exceptionally powerful sound, with the midrange in particular coming through beautifully. The rounded body also ensures wonderful projection and a balanced, warm tone with a subtle yet dynamic range of timbres—ideal for any kind of strumming and picking!

A sound sample of this model (compared to its sister model, the J-45) can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.

In addition, the guitar comes factory-equipped with a high-quality L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system, ensuring a clear, authentic acoustic sound even when played live.

Truly a great guitar that—typical of Gibson Montana—combines an outstanding balance of sound, playability, and aesthetics.
