2002 Martin D-17 dreadnought, made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
This is the original full-gloss D-17, not to be confused with the newer satin-finished D-17 models. Martin Customer Service confirmed that only 966 D-17 guitars were produced to these specifications between 2002 and 2005.
This guitar features a solid genuine mahogany top, solid genuine mahogany back and sides, and a genuine mahogany neck, all finished in Martin's beautiful full-gloss finish.
Factory specs include scalloped D1 Hybrid bracing, tortoise binding, gold Gotoh tuners, a 25.4" scale length, 1-11/16" nut width, and the original black Micarta fingerboard and bridge. It also features a black Martin pickguard. No electronics.
Tonally, this is everything you'd expect from an all-mahogany Martin dreadnought. Warm, dry, woody and resonant, with the distinctive fundamental-rich sound these guitars are known for.
Overall condition is very good for a 24-year-old guitar. The full-gloss finish remains exceptionally clean and shiny, with minor cosmetic wear consistent with its age.
There is a visible area along the back center seam that appears to have been repaired at some point. I've included close-up photos of this area for transparency. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
The last photo is the original build specification sheet provided by Martin.
Will ship in the preowned C.F. MARTIN hard case pictured.
