Show Some Love →I am offering here a Hanika Special Edition H. Thomann Custom Black Option from 2019, an all solid timber crossover classical guitar from the German high-end classical guitar workshop of Armin Hanika, featuring a solid cedar top, back and sides made of solid mahogany, set cedro neck with “D” neck profile and 48mm bone nut, high-quality ebony fingerboard with offset mother-of-pearl dot inlays, black/gold Rubner R1 tuners with ebony pegs, Shadow Ambiance pickups (including Palmer PAN04 stereo DI box) in an open-pore black satin finish with multi-ply top binding in excellent condition, including black SKB luxury hardshell case (upgrade) and professional setup with Savarez 500ARJ strings.
For decades, the German guitar manufacturer Hanika has been among the world’s most renowned makers of high-quality classical guitars. In Baiersdorf, Franconia, instruments are painstakingly handcrafted, combining traditional guitar-making artistry with modern manufacturing techniques. The H. Thomann Custom Black Option, crafted exclusively for Thomann, reinterprets this concept in a particularly modern way, combining the tonal qualities of a classical concert guitar with the comfortable playability and versatility of a contemporary crossover fusion nylon-string guitar featuring a thinline body.
Sonically, the Hanika impresses with a warm, open, and distinctly dynamic character. The solid cedar top responds extremely sensitively even to the lightest touch, delivering a full, overtone-rich tone with soft highs and pronounced midrange presence. The solid mahogany back and sides complement the sound with a dry, controlled bass foundation and excellent string separation. This makes the instrument equally suited for classical music, jazz, bossa nova, fingerstyle, and modern crossover styles.
A special feature is the high-quality Shadow Ambiance pickup system, which enables a nuanced and natural reproduction of the acoustic guitar’s sound. In combination with the included Palmer PAN 04 stereo DI box, the instrument offers flexible connection options for both stage and studio. The Cedro neck, with its comfortable D-profile and comparatively narrow 48mm bone nut, also allows for a particularly smooth transition from acoustic-style guitar to classical nylon-string guitar. The elegant ebony fingerboard with subtle offset mother-of-pearl dot inlays underscores the instrument’s modern character.
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
Visually, the Hanika is exceptionally elegant. The deep black, open-pore satin finish gives the instrument a modern, understated aesthetic, while the multi-layered maple/ebony inlays, the traditional wood mosaic rosette, and the high-quality Rubner R1 tuners with ebony wings add stylish accents.
Technical Specifications:
The high-quality SKB hardshell case (MSRP: €209) and the Palmer DI box (€83) are included in this offer.
This guitar is in excellent condition and is technically flawless. Visually, it shows only finest wear, if any (see photos). The neck is straight and the frets are like new.
The instrument has been professionally set up with Savarez 500ARJ strings, and I (a long-time experienced guitar teacher) will ship it fully insured with DHL for €29.99 within Germany or €69.99 within the EU. Worldwide shipping is available—individual shipping costs upon request.
