Mo Says...
The Uni-Vibe has been making guitarists sound gloriously seasick since the sixties. This little MXR captures that peculiar, hypnotic movement without requiring a pedalboard the size of a dining table.

The Details
The MXR M68 Uni-Vibe brings one of the most distinctive modulation effects in guitar history into a compact, straightforward stompbox. Inspired by the legendary Uni-Vibe units of the late 1960s and early 1970s, it produces the warm, swirling, almost rotary-speaker-like textures associated with psychedelic rock, blues and classic guitar recordings. From slow, atmospheric movement to fast, pulsing modulation, the M68 offers a remarkably expressive range of sounds.
The pedal features two modes selected using the small Vibe button. Chorus mode combines the dry and modulated signals for the familiar thick, undulating Uni-Vibe character, while Vibrato mode removes the dry signal to produce a more pronounced pitch-modulation effect. Three controls make shaping the sound refreshingly simple: Speed adjusts the rate of modulation, Depth sets its intensity and Level controls the overall output. True bypass switching ensures the pedal stays out of the signal path when disengaged.
Housed in MXR's familiar compact metal enclosure, the M68 offers vintage-inspired modulation without the size and complexity of an original Uni-Vibe unit. It works particularly well with clean and lightly overdriven guitar tones, although its distinctive movement can add considerable character to heavier sounds too. This pre-owned example shows visible cosmetic wear, including scratches, small chips to the finish and wear around the footswitch and controls, as pictured.
