PRS John Mayer Silver Sky | Moc Sand Satin Rosewood

If you're in the market for a premium electric guitar that perfectly fuses vintage and modern, the PRS Silver Sky deserves your attention. Designed in collaboration between Grammy-winning artist John Mayer and renowned luthier Paul Reed Smith, the Silver Sky is an exceptional instrument that draws on Mayer's favourite elements from classic 1963 and 1964 guitars, while incorporating PRS's innovative designs. Here's a closer look at what makes the PRS Silver Sky an outstanding guitar and why Peach Guitars is offering the best deal you'll find.

Design and Build Quality: A Perfect Marriage of Vintage and Modern

One of the standout features of the PRS Silver Sky is its design, which takes inspiration from the classic single-coil guitars of the '60s while embracing modern craft skills. The solid alder body delivers excellent resonance, giving you a clear, articulate tone that responds beautifully to different playing styles. Its maple neck, with a vintage-inspired 7.25" fretboard radius, ensures a comfortable, familiar feel in your hands.

The bolt-on neck construction is another detail that enhances the guitar's classic feel while maintaining excellent stability. The carefully designed neck profile, born from Mayer's extensive testing via live performances, strikes the perfect balance between comfort and speed, making it an ideal guitar for long sessions or live gigs.

On the aesthetic side, this guitar doesn't disappoint with its iconic bird inlays on a rosewood fretboard, streamlined and understated detailing, and an elegant Moc Sand satin finish for a distinct off-white that stands apart from the rest!

A Bridge and Tremolo System Designed for Precision

The PRS steel tremolo bridge is a great design. While some vintage tremolo systems can be tricky to keep in tune, the Silver Sky's bridge features Gen III knife-edge screws, allowing smooth pitch changes without losing tuning stability. The tremolo is flush with the body, so it only drops pitch, enhancing the guitar's acoustic resonance and improving the performance of the single-coil pickups.

This feature is particularly valuable for players who love the expressive freedom a tremolo system provides but don't want to sacrifice tuning stability. Whether you're adding subtle vibrato or leaning into more dramatic pitch bends, the Silver Sky delivers precise control.

635JM Pickups: Smooth, Musical, and Never Harsh

The heart of the Silver Sky's tone comes from its 635JM single-coil pickups, which offer a refined sound profile. Unlike many single-coils that can sometimes sound overly bright or "ice-picky," these pickups deliver a warm, round tone with a balanced high end that stays musical and smooth. Whether you're playing clean or pushing your amp into overdrive, the Silver Sky remains articulate, making it suitable for genres ranging from blues to rock, and even jazz.

This attention to detail ensures that you're not only getting versatility in your tone but a sound that cuts through the mix without being harsh on the ears.

PRS Locking Tuners: Superior Tuning Stability

The Silver Sky is equipped with PRS's proprietary locking tuners, which combine the best of vintage aesthetics and modern engineering. Unlike traditional tuners, these ensure that your strings stay locked in place, greatly reducing tuning issues. This is especially important for players who like to use the tremolo arm frequently, as it helps maintain pitch consistency even during more aggressive use.
