I personally hand-selected this Martin D-35 from three examples available at Guitar Center in Times Square back in 2019.
After about an hour playing and comparing all three, this one was the clear winner, compared to the other two, as it had a noticeably fuller, richer, and more powerful bass response a wonderful dreadnought “oomph“ while maintaining beautiful clarity and balance across the mids and highs.
As any experienced guitarist knows, even identical models can have distinctly different voices. This particular D-35 stood out immediately, and that’s why I chose it.
A Beautiful Life in the Caribbean
For years, this guitar lived in my private, air-conditioned and humidity-controlled music production studio in the Caribbean.
The air conditioning runs 24/7, and the guitar was always stored in its original hardshell case, consistently maintained at approximately 45% relative humidity.
Condition – Excellent
The guitar has seen relatively little playing time and remains in exceptionally clean condition.
No dings or deep scratches. Just some minor evidence of playing, particularly on the pickguard.
There is a very subtle line along a small section of the body binding seam, visible upon close inspection. The binding remains seated with no obvious lifting or separation.
Otherwise, the guitar presents beautifully, from its spruce top to its legendary three-piece rosewood back.
Original Documentation – NEVER Registered with Martin
This guitar has NEVER been registered with Martin.
It comes with the original Martin registration paperwork, owner’s materials, and the original Guitar Center purchase receipt from August 2019.
I’ve kept everything together since purchasing the instrument.
Why Am I Selling It?
I’m a longtime guitar aficionado with a personal collection of 11 guitars, all of which I care for meticulously. My musical interests, however, have largely gravitated toward styles that favor my electric and acoustic-electric guitars rather than traditional dreadnoughts.
Parting with this D-35 won’t be easy, but I’ve always believed that guitars are meant to be played, not merely collected. I’d much rather see this beautiful Martin making music in someone else’s hands than spending another few years resting quietly in its case.

Final Thoughts
This isn’t simply another Martin D-35. It’s a guitar I personally selected after extensively comparing three examples, choosing the one with the most impressive bass response and overall tonal balance.
From Guitar Center in the heart of Manhattan to a carefully maintained studio in the beautiful Caribbean, this Martin has had a lovely journey.
I’m in no rush to sell and would be delighted to see it find a new home with someone who appreciates fine instruments as much as I do.
