About This Listing

For sale is my Ibanez Artcore semi-hollow bass from somewhere around 2004-2006. I've owned this bass from new, mostly using it at home for recording and storing it away between.

Its body is made of maple with a transparent brown finish, like a deep varnish. The (quite chunky) neck is a mixture of maple and mahogany, and the fingerboard is rosewood, with 22 frets. It's finished with an ivory coloured binding on the body and neck, with pearl dot markers and pearlescent 'Ibanez' on the headstock.

The bass has a single humbucker, with quite a powerful output, and volume/tone control. The bridge and tailpiece are very solid, offering the ability to 'quik change' the strings rather than having to pull them through a bridge. The tuning machines are very smooth and solid, holding tune very well.

I wouldn't describe this as an 'acoustic' bass, it's semi-hollow. It is definitely louder and more resonant than a solid body (comparing to my jazz bass), and is great for practicing without an amp. Ideal for a dorm room or such where you can't be amplified all the time. But you wouldn't necessarily reach for this bass for an acoustic gig. It has a relatively new pair of XLs on it, which sound bright (and help with the acoustic volume). If I weren't downsizing a collection I'd maybe tempted to go with the aesthetics of the bass and put flats on it.

Overall this is in great condition for its age. Aside from some surface scratches in the finish when viewed in the right light, there is one notable ding on the back of the neck (hence 'very good' labelling). This maybe looks worse than it feels on account of the neck gloss finish being apparently susceptible to developing some delaminated 'bubbles', which appear like lighter brown dots (see photos for what I mean by this). Should a more matte neck finish be desired this could maybe be sanded down and fixed, but I thought I'd leave that for someone's discretion when this gets a new chapter in life! There is also a crack in the surface of the finish next to a tuning peg on the back of the headstock (see picture), due to age and drying out I expect.

Any questions at all please ask!
