*RESTORED* Kalamazoo USA by Gibson KG-2A 1968 - Purple metallic

Remember that time Gibson tried to compete directly with Fender models and launched Kalamazoo USA? Well okay I don't either because I wasn't alive yet, but I've read about it!

So check out this Mustang style which at some point in its past was refinished in metallic purple (originally red). The refinishing paintjob was really solid and took sanding and buffing fine, I would guess that it was automotive paint (looks like Dodge Purple to me). It hadnt been polished very well by the original refinisher but that has been corrected and it has been hand applied clear coated and polished. This maintains the natural relicing marks but also seals against further damages etc.

All the electronics work and have been thoroughly checked out. This has been given the full restoration process and setup to play great. The original oddball tremolo has been removed (a big round coil of chromed steel) and the bridge (which had weird 4x2 intonation 🤷) has been replaced with a wrap around PRS style that keeps the vintage vibe while offering superior tuning stability. The original trem coil thing will be included only if purchasing guitar at listed price - any offers below listing will not include this. Also note the trem does not have the original bar, that's pretty straightforward to replace if the trem is reinstalled.

Includes the purple lined hard case pictured to preserve, protect, and emphasize its beauty.

Bottom line, this is a classic guitar built in the hayday of Gibson Kalamazoo but never got the street cred it deserved bc the "let's beat Fender at their own game" routine never worked out for Gibson. That historical devaluation makes it so you can get a classic restored made in USA by Gibson Kalamazoo for the price of a generic new low end Fender US (or hi end Mex). Get it while you can!
