Gibson 200 EM Mandolin, electric Mandolin powered by the Legendary P90! This incredible instrument was made side by side with some of the most important Gibson instruments in 1964. Made in Kalamazoo from some the most coveted woods in Gibson History! Brazilian Rosewood fret board, Mahogany from Honduras , and hand crafted Hot P 90 Pickup.
Mandolin is quite collectible. It is in very good shape, shows under light some checking, signs of use. A possible head stock repair that I tried to show in photo. Looks to have been cared for and not much play, in my opinion the frets are very good. Sounds fantastic plugged in to any amp, perfect practice piece unplugged. Extremely versatile instrument, plays and sounds like a Mandolin, or and be played as a slide guitar.
The P 90 is true Gibson, from the golden days. Mandolin breaks up nice when turned up. Perfect for live performances, home, and jams. A piece of Gibson History that should be coveted.
Gibson 200 EM takes it retro handsome looks from the Les Paul Guitars at the time.
Solid, smooth feeling instrument, incredibly easy to play, amazing sound that combines innovation with tradition. Plays like a Mandolin, sounds like a Mandolin that can rock if needed. This are extremely collectible as they were made is very small batches, for example some years less than 40 were made. Original case, gold lining, locks work. And Gibson badge marker. The 200 EM important piece of Gibson history that will most likely never to be reissued . It is solid and heavy, clean, easy on the fingers, a joy to play. Neck is very smooth!
The 200 EM was a head of its time, IMO sounding more like a tradition Mandolin than a 4 string counterpart electric Mandolins sold at the time.
Mandolin is extremely clean, bright finish, a clean instrument. Looks like a repair to head stock, however I was told that it was not repaired, just sign of original construction as a result of age. If it was a break it was amazingly clean, and professional repaired.
