EVH Wolfgang WG-T Standard 2014 Transparent Red Electric Guitar

Here for sale we have an EVH Wolfgang WG-T Standard electric guitar in Transparent Red. Made in 2014 this guitar features a bolt-on construction consisting of a Basswood body with Quilt Maple top, Baked Maple neck and 22 fret Maple fingerboard. Other appointments include sealed tuning machines and Fully Adjustable Bridge with Tunamatic-style Tailpiece. A pair of Direct Mount EVH Wolfgang humbuckers are fitted and wired to a 3-way pickup selector, master volume and master tone.

The Baked Maple neck is carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen's exact specifications and features a Oiled finish on the back. The ‘Wolfgang Backshape’ profile is a thicker profile in comparison to the standard or modified ‘C’ shape filling the hand nicely for a smooth and articulate playing experience up and down the neck. Primed for high performance, energetic riffing and blazing leads, the 12"-16" compound radius Maple fingerboard has 22 jumbo frets assisting with string bends and vibrato techniques, delivering a tailored playing experience in any position, whilst offering a nice balance between comfortable chord playing and practicality for quick lead lines. The unique body design provides uninhibited access to the upper register, ensuring a razor sharp playing experience in all registers.

Not all humbuckers are created equal, the direct mount EVH Wolfgang humbuckers with Alnico 2 magnets are hot and harness Eddie’s scorching signature lead tone that captivated the world of rock ‘n’ roll in the ‘70s and ‘80s. These pickups deliver rich harmonics, cutting highs and snarling mids in spades. The bridge pickup provides a fat and punchy humbucker-like sound, making power chords sound gritty, whilst also providing soaring lead tones with broad tonal dynamics. However, with subtler amp settings the bridge offers a bright, glassy clean tone making harmonics sing with a bell like tonality. The middle position provides bright trebles and full warm bass, and lends itself well to rhythm tones. The neck pickup offers a smooth, warm, rounded tone that handles distorted tones as well as it handles clean tones, making solo lines a sumptuous affair.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. Light indentations are present to the tips of the headstock, these have lightly exposed the wood beneath the finish, with this light paint transfer is also present near these indentations. Light to mild scratching is present to the front face of the headstock, these can be seen under direct light. Mild discoloration is apparent to the natural wood. The serial number has smudged on the treble side edge.

Neck: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the neck and fingerboard display mild to moderate discoloration consistent with regular past use, this is common with Natural Maple. Light scratching is present to the rear of the neck and fingerboard across the register, these ca be seen under close scrutiny and can not be felt in the playing position.  

Body: Overall very good condition. A mild chip to the finish is present to the front face treble side horn, this exposes the wood beneath. A light lacquer crack is present to the bass side of the neck pocket, this has been stress tested and presents no structural concerns. All aspects of the body display light to mild scratching visible only under direct light, the most apparent of these can be seen to the bass side lower bout edge.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. Light denting and flattening of the frets is apparent throughout the register. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (spoke wheel) not included.

Hardware: Overall very good condition. light to moderate tarnishing of the finish is present oto all aspects of the metal hardware, this is most apparent to the tuning machines and bridge. The A tuning machine is stiff when turning, the tuning machine still functions as it should.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm
