In 1967, The Ventures used this 12-string model alongside a hollow-body combo during their Japan tour, and it quickly became the center of attention among fans at the time, who were absolutely thrilled.
The Pearl White finish seems to be particularly popular, and the one we’ve just received is exactly what you’re looking for! I’m sure there are some of you out there who’ve been searching for just this.
This is a rare specimen, manufactured in 1966.
It features a basswood body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. As a vintage instrument, it naturally boasts the classic Mosrite wood specifications.
The logo-embossed pickup covers, “M”-marked knobs, and other details all match the specifications from late 1965 onward, ensuring a cohesive design.
While some Mark XII models lack a tremolo, this one is equipped with a Moseley tremolo.
Since it’s a 12-string model, the roller-type bridge is also custom-spec, making this a truly luxurious instrument.
The slim neck offers excellent playability, and iconic features like the metal nut, 0th fret, and slanted front pickup really catch the eye.
That said, since it’s a 12-string, the nut width measures 42.5 mm.
There is no Ventures logo.
The slightly yellowed “Pearl White” finish is, as expected, very cool; while it appears black in photos, it pairs beautifully with the tortoiseshell pickguard.
Mosrite was once a brand many aspired to own, and a 12-string model is even rarer.
Regardless of the brand, this is highly recommended for anyone looking for a 12-string guitar.
[Condition]
As a vintage instrument, it shows some signs of use, but considering its age, it’s in remarkably good condition.
According to the previous owner, it was purchased at Fillmore Gakki in Mitaka.
As a result, it may have undergone some restoration: aluminum foil has been applied throughout the cavity, and shims have been installed in the neck pocket.
The strap pin at the body end has been replaced with a Dunlop-style pin.
As is common with Mosrites, the neck is significantly off-center, and the 6th string side is barely within the action range.
As shown in the photos, there is a “1966” stamp on the neck, so we’ve determined it was manufactured in 1966; however, the date on the body is illegible due to screw holes.
Although the stamp numbers differ, given the proximity of the dates and the fact that it appears to read “196x,” we believe this may be the original set.
Since no serial number can be found anywhere on the instrument, it is unclear whether it was removed or was never there to begin with.
There are two linear cracks in the paint on the back of the neck. They appear quite deep, but since they aren’t moving at this time, the wood itself seems to be fine.
The frets were originally set very low, making it difficult to judge how much life is left in them, but there is still some depth remaining.
I have confirmed that the truss rod functions properly.
A hard case is included; it’s an original Mosrite case, but it does not appear to be from the original era.
