Yamaha 5000A bass 80's grey

Yamaha BB-5000A — 1980s — Rare Grey Sparkle Finish — Excellent Playing Condition

A rare opportunity to own a genuine 1980s Yamaha BB-5000A, finished in the increasingly hard-to-find original grey sparkle, with its original gold hardware.

This is a superb-playing vintage BB-5000A that has been professionally set up and is ready to go straight into the studio or onto the stage.

PLAYABILITY

The neck is in excellent condition and perfect working order, with a beautifully comfortable feel and low-to-medium action.

The setup is excellent: the bass plays smoothly, comfortably and effortlessly, with no issues with the neck or playability.

One of the things that really sets this BB-5000A apart is the neck feel and overall ergonomics. It is an exceptionally comfortable instrument to play, and in my opinion considerably more comfortable than the standard BB-5000.

If you are looking for a vintage bass that you can actually play for hours without fighting the instrument, this is a very special example.

SOUND

The BB-5000A has that unmistakable Yamaha professional-series character: powerful, articulate and extremely versatile.

It delivers a superb range of tones, from deep and authoritative low end to clear, defined mids and articulate top end. It works equally well for rock, funk, soul, jazz, pop, fusion and studio work.

This is a bass that can cover a huge amount of ground while still retaining the character and punch that make the classic Yamaha BB instruments so desirable.

ORIGINAL VINTAGE CONDITION

The bass is in very good overall condition for its age.

The original grey sparkle finish has naturally aged over the decades. In places, the finish has developed a beautiful warm, slightly goldish/amber "burnt" appearance, revealing the character of the original finish and giving the instrument a genuinely vintage look.

There are some cosmetic marks and signs of age consistent with a vintage instrument. The cosmetics are not perfect, and I want to be completely transparent about that, but these marks do not affect the sound, playability, neck or overall functionality of the bass.

The original gold hardware remains in place.

This is a vintage instrument that has been played and naturally aged rather than a pristine museum piece — and that is part of its appeal.

The BB-5000A is already a relatively uncommon model, and finding a genuine 1980s example in this original grey sparkle finish, with its original gold hardware and in excellent playing condition, is becoming increasingly difficult.

The combination of:

• Genuine 1980s Yamaha BB-5000A
• Rare original grey sparkle finish
• Original gold hardware
• Excellent neck
• Very comfortable neck profile and ergonomics
• Low-to-medium professional setup
• Superb, versatile sound
• Professionally set up and ready to play
• Natural vintage ageing
• Studio-quality instrument

makes this a particularly interesting example for a serious player or collector.
