Mo Says...
A splendidly fiery Showmaster from Fender’s more adventurous side. Flame top, set neck, twin EMG-HZ humbuckers and tremolo make this Korean-built machine a handsome weapon for rock and beyond.
Notable Particulars
The Details
This Fender Showmaster is a rather different beast from the traditional Strats and Teles for which Fender is best known. Built in Korea, it belongs to Fender’s performance-minded Showmaster family, combining sleek Superstrat ergonomics with twin humbuckers, 24 frets and a wonderfully dramatic figured top.
The Trans Amber Burst finish graduates from golden amber through rich red at the edges, with the figuring beneath giving the guitar considerable visual depth. Even the matching stained headstock and neck continue the theme, producing a particularly cohesive instrument.
Electronics comprise a pair of EMG-HZ passive humbuckers with simple volume and tone controls and a blade pickup selector. They offer plenty of output for driven rock sounds while retaining the convenience of passive electronics.
The set-neck construction and sculpted heel provide excellent access to the upper register, while the dark fingerboard features 24 frets and distinctive abalone-style markers. A two-point tremolo bridge adds further versatility, and Fender-branded enclosed tuners complete the hardware.
The rear of the headstock confirms Korean manufacture and shows serial number 04063305.
There are signs of previous use and age, including marks to the finish and hardware. Please study the images carefully for the best assessment of cosmetic condition.
A fascinating Fender from an era when the company occasionally loosened its tie, turned up the gain and wandered into Superstrat territory.
