About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1956 Gibson ES-125 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. 100% original save for a set of new tuner buttons, this well-kept golden-era Gibson ES-125 features a fully hollow body (16” lower bout width) with arched maple top and back, mahogany rims, and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.

Weighing 5lbs 14oz, the fully hollow construction delivers in a clear, broad acoustic response with great natural projection and a smooth, punchy quality accentuated by the 11-50 flatwound strings (wound G). Very dynamically responsive, the P-90 pickup has a glassy treble bite, smooth growl and rich midrange character. It doesn't get any simpler, and for complex jazz chords or a powerful and present tone for a bit of Americana cut and snarl, this instrument is the perfect choice. This ES-125 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

  • Scale Length: 24 3/4”
  • Nut width: 1 11/16”

This is an extremely well-kept Gibson, and the nitro lacquer two-tone Sunburst finish is rich and glossy, with tight, subtle lacquer checking throughout. Wear is limited to light finish scratches and minor dings, largely on the lower bout perimeter. The neck carve is smooth and clean save for some light chipping in the clear coat on the profile shoulders.

A hardshell case is included.
