From my collection is a rare vintage 1993 Starfield Altair Classic 420TK in excellent collectors condition.
This guitar was built in the famous Fuji-gen Japan factory where quality Fender and Ibanez guitars were also made.
The Starfield brand was launched by Ibanez (Hoshino Gakki)in the early 1990s as a premium high-quality guitar brand in an attempt to compete with Fender USA using superb craftsmanship and top-quality components. Starfield instruments were built for only 3 to 4 years until 1994. Starfield instruments have an excellent reputation and are now hard to find, asthere aren’t many of these instruments in existence.
The body of this Starfield Altair has a natural satin finish over a two piece solid Teak body (a luxurious timber). It is equipped with two Lipstick single-coil pickups, a two pointbrass vibrato system, withfully gold-plated hardware. The tone is direct, chiming and clear, with a percussive bass and a shimmering treble. The neck pickup in incredible. A very cool styling with slick curves, reminiscent of a Maton Mastersound or Danelectro. A very cool little slice of MIJ history.
