[TAKUMI Series]
A special custom-order model crafted from the finest wood, selected through a rigorous process of repeated screening, and featuring over 10 specification modifications.
This popular custom series is the result of an unwavering commitment to four key elements: wood, ornamentation, playability, and tone.
Because these special guitars are made exclusively from high-quality wood selected at the Takamine factory, annual production is limited to
approximately 10 units.
------------------------------------
Crafted with the skills of master artisans and carefully selected, high-quality wood,
Kurosawa Music Store’s signature custom series: TAKUMI.
While we have introduced numerous special colors in the past,
this model features “Antique Nutmeg,” an original color that has long been a part of Takamine’s history.
It is a subdued reddish-brown nutmeg color that is neither too flashy nor overly ornate, exuding a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere.
This exquisite color—neither too bright like orange nor too red—
harmonizes beautifully with the antique ivoroid binding.
For the top, we’ve carefully selected high-quality, fine-grained Sitka spruce,
while the sides and back feature deep-colored, straight-grained Indian rosewood, handpicked specifically for this model.
The Sitka spruce, with its fine, even grain, offers clear sound projection and excellent response,
and is characterized by its crystal-clear tone.
Combined with the resonant Indian rosewood,
the rich, full-bodied low end and the airy, slightly sparkling high end
come together in perfect balance, producing a tight, well-defined tone that resonates clearly.
The neck features the “Kurosawa Thin Neck,” a TAKUMI-exclusive neck shape
finished 1 mm thinner than the standard model.
With a nut width of approximately 42 mm and a slimmer neck, it’s easy for anyone to play,
and it ensures comfortable playability all the way up to the higher frets.
Since only the back of the neck has a satin finish,
position changes are smooth, allowing for stress-free playing.
You can confidently enjoy not only singing while playing but also solo guitar and fingerstyle.
The meticulous ornamentation characteristic of the Takumi Series is once again in full force.
The edge of the body top features an original inlay made of abalone shell and light brown-stained wood,
adding a refined luster to the subdued Antique Nutmeg color.
The fingerboard features original diamond position marks made of abalone shell,
and the headstock is adorned with a gleaming abalone Takamine logo.
Since all of these decorations are delicate and luxurious—the kind that would cost a considerable amount on a standard custom order—
being able to offer them at this price point is a hallmark of the Takumi model.
Furthermore, the combination with pearl tuning peg buttons creates a touch of elegance without being too flashy.
Included is a high-quality tortoiseshell pickguard, meticulously beveled exclusively for the TAKUMI series.
These stylish accessories, tailored to the player’s needs, are crafted specifically for this instrument.
The pickup system features a dual-pickup configuration, combining a DMP preamp with a contact piezo.
This setup captures the definition and volume of a standard pickup while incorporating the body resonance and depth provided by the contact piezo,
resulting in a more natural acoustic sound.
It’s ideal for singing while playing, of course, but also supports technical playing techniques that utilize body tapping, further expanding your expressive range on stage.
This special model is the result of a collaboration between the craftsmanship Takamine has honed over many years and the meticulous custom specifications provided by Kurosawa Gakki.
Only Takamine can offer this luxurious wood configuration—entirely made in Japan—at this price point.
We invite you to take this opportunity to consider this instrument.
