Up for sale, a 1958 Guild T-100D “Slim Jim” in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Lifton hardshell case. This first year example of the T-100D was crafted at Guild’s Hoboken, NJ factory, featuring a pair of Franz single coil pickups, an open-book headstock shape and a set of distinctive early bakelite barrel knobs.
Featuring a 16” lower bout and an arched maple top, this T-100’s thinline hollowbody construction and form factor result in terrific natural resonance, chime and detail, providing an ideal platform for the pickups. Plugged in, the Franz single coils are very much akin to a P-90 in terms of output and tonal characteristics, with great midrange cut, top end snap, and focused, growling bass. This T-100D “Slim Jim” is featherweight at 5lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Blonde nitro lacquer finish highlights subtle bubble figuring on the maple top, with very fine lacquer checking and cosmetic wear limited to light finish scratches and minor marks consistent with very limited use. The three-ply top binding shows considerable shrinkage, yet is stable along the entire perimeter, with only one repaired split at the bass-side waist. Similarly, the neck binding shows considerable ambering, checking and a tiny bit of chipping, all stable and smooth.
The original Lifton hardshell case is included, with functional latches and a replacement handle. The case has been painted black over the original brown material.
