The Gibson Les Paul Special New Century is one of the more unusual Les Paul Specials Gibson produced in the 2000s. Built in the USA from 2006–2008, it takes the stripped-down Special platform and gives it a distinctly futuristic twist with a full-body mirrored pickguard and matching mirrored truss rod cover .

Underneath the mirror treatment is a traditional mahogany body and set mahogany neck , paired with an ebony fingerboard and 1960 Slim Taper profile . The ebony board and relatively slim neck give it a fast, direct feel that stands apart from the chunkier vintage-style Specials.

A 490R neck humbucker and hotter 498T bridge pickup provide a broad range of classic Gibson tones, from warm, full cleans to aggressive rock and high-gain sounds, while the Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece keep the setup familiar and dependable.

Finished in Ebony with chrome hardware and mirror dot inlays , the New Century is a rare, instantly recognizable Gibson from an experimental period in the company’s history — part Les Paul Special, part early-2000s design statement, and unlike almost anything else Gibson has made.
