Hughes & Kettner GrandMeister 36 w/ FSM-432, WMI-1, Rack Ears & Bag

Hughes & Kettner GrandMeister 36 all-tube guitar amp head in very good condition, fitted with 19-inch rack ears and sold as a complete MIDI-controlled package.

The GrandMeister 36 combines the warmth and response of an analog tube amp with extensive digital control. Dial in a tone with its tactile knurled controls, then store your sound in one of 128 MIDI presets for instant recall.

Four independent channels cover Clean, Crunch, Lead, and Ultra. The amp also includes reverb, delay, modulation effects, a noise gate, an FX loop, and a programmable Power Soak with 36, 18, 5, 1, and speaker-off settings. The Red Box speaker-emulated XLR output makes it especially useful for recording, direct connection to a PA, and silent studio work.

The included Hughes & Kettner FSM-432 MK III foot controller provides four preset switches per bank, bank up/down, tap tempo, and a separate stompbox mode. The included WMI-1 wireless MIDI interface allows remote control from a compatible iPad using the GrandMeister 36 Remote app.

I replaced the original side handles with 19-inch rack ears, making this a great addition to a studio or live-performance rack. It still sits securely on its rubber feet when used outside a rack.

I used the amp to record one album. Since then, it has seen only light studio use. One tube was replaced with a Mesa/Boogie tube in 2025, and the amp has operated normally since.

The front panel and transparent bezel present very well, and the blue illumination works as shown. There are light cosmetic marks on the sides and underside, plus normal surface wear on the foot controller. The photos show the condition clearly.
