Manufactured in Memphis, USA on 28th May 1999. This highly sought after lightweight & stunning guitar is from the Smartwood series which was a landmark initiative launched by Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz in partnership with the Rainforest Alliance and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It was designed to highlight sustainably harvested, non-endangered tropical hardwoods. The back of the body and the entire neck of all Smartwood Exotics are made from FSC-certified Mahogany.
- Fretboard: Made from Curupay (a dense, durable South American hardwood used as an eco-friendly alternative to rosewood or ebony).
- Body Design: A certified mahogany back with a slightly thinner, contoured body profile compared to a traditional Les Paul Standard, making it noticeably lighter and comfortable for long playing sessions. Body features a Chancharana top - a South American hardwood known for its rich, warm reddish-brown, russet colour and grain structure that closely mimics mahogany and rosewood.
- Electronics & Hardware: Equipped with gold hardware, a Tune-o-matic bridge, and Gibson's standard high-output pickup combo—a 490R (neck) and 498T (bridge) humbucker.
- Headstock Details: Features a special truss rod cover engraved with the "SmartWood" logo.
A head-turning, great-sounding piece of Gibson history that plays like butter and stands out in any collection or gig setup. Will be packed securely for shipping and fully insured.
