Sonor in Weißenfels. Johannes Link, born in 1847 in the small Bavarian village of Forheim near Nördlingen, began his career as a woodturner and tanner. These trades formed the basis for the percussion instrument and drumhead factory he founded in 1875 in Weißenfels on the Saale River. In a short time, this modest workshop quickly grew into SONOR, a world-renowned manufacturer of drums and percussion instruments. For the first time, SONOR vintage expert Klaus Ruple has compiled and curated a comprehensive collection of contemporary historical facts in the form of texts, images, and documents relating to the Link family and SONOR. Through his research in Weißenfels and this book, the company's unique pioneering achievements in German percussion instrument production are presented in a new light. ✔
