Brian Wampler launched Wampler Pedals in 2005 from his Indiana workshop, initially hand-building a small line of overdrive and boost circuits sold directly to local players. The brand quickly gained attention for its focus on analog signal paths and component selection that prioritized headroom and touch sensitivity over heavy coloration.
Expansion and Signature Models
By 2010 Wampler had introduced the Ego Compressor and later the Tumnus, both of which became reference points for transparent compression and Klon-style overdrive in the boutique market. The company expanded its catalog to include delay, reverb, and dual-stage drives while maintaining through-hole construction on most core models.
Notable Artists and Current Standing
Artists such as Joe Bonamassa, Guthrie Govan, and members of Periphery have integrated Wampler pedals into touring rigs, citing reliable switching and consistent voicing under varying stage volumes. Wampler continues to release limited-run and artist-edition pedals while keeping standard production models available through authorized dealers.
