My wallet just filed for divorce after I opened Reverb this morning…
Another week and another dose of insanity on the marketplace. If the marketplace wasn't crazy I would worry something was wrong.
In this week's there are some pretty famous names being thrown around; Jimi Hendrix, George Benson, T-Bone Walker, ok so I only know one of those π₯Ί. Yeah it was T-Bone Walker. But I looked them up and they are super talented and deserve to be in my weekly report!
Here are this week's most ridiculous listings making the rounds:
1. Donut Guitar Custom Shop Special - $1,000,001.99

Donuts!! Cue Homer Simpson on this one. Well what can I say, this is original and creative. From the listing "The Donut Guitar is a custom-built masterpiece, crafted over 5 years from scratch by a renowned Moscow luthier Artem Mayer at Copper Guitars workshop". I love the price $1,000,001.99, gotta get that extra 1.99 maybe that helps with the shipping cost. At any rate if this is for you...

2. Jimi Hendrix Owned and Stage Played 1961 Epiphone Wilshire - $850,000

Jimmi Hendrix played it, so I guess that alone justifies the $850K price tag, but WHYYYY is it an Epiphone. Also, you would think they would display it a little better in the picture, it looks like it is about to join a banquet at an old folks home. Anyway, this could be an awesome grab for Hendrix fans!
3. Gibson Johnny Smith "Breezin" Owned by George Benson - $999,999 (Accepts Offers!)

It seems like no matter what there is always going to be a Gibson in this list, but wow George Benson, it's definitely a piece of history and a small price to pay if your Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates, but for us regular folks, good luck with the sell! But if you are interested click the link below.
4. Helios Historic Analog Mixing Console Jamaica Vintage Rare - $2,250,000

Well if you throw in all the keywords; vintage, rare, best mixing console to ever exist, then that $2.25M price tag makes sense! Ok actually I just read the description and holy sh** Bob Marley was recorded on this thing!
From the description "This historic Helios console in blue / green color comes from Harry J's in Jamaica and recorded Bob Marley's first four studio albums (Soul Rebels, Catch a Fire, Burnin', Natty Dread including hits such as Get Up Stand Up, No Woman No Cry, Jamming, One Love/People Get Ready)...". Wow I get it now. You Bob Marley fans out there, roll a fatty, make a really bad decision and click the link below.
Don't sleep on this, get it now
5. *Holy Grail* Roland Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble Serial #S000001 - $999,999

Another word that seems to be coming up a lot in these posts is "Holy Grail". I guess if you say it's a holy grail then it must be, but it just makes me say holy something else... but I am trying to be clean here. So this was found in a junkyard in Montana and was made in 1929 in the Ford plant when they were making... ok ok I know you don't believe that, I am just making things up at this point.
Here is a little snippet from the description, "So potentially, this unit might not only be the first chorus unit ever produced, it could also be the very first Boss pedal ever made. The one true mother of all chorus pedals and the grand elder of all Boss pedals.". First Boss pedal ever produced (with no proof), but if it is true then WOW! Plus it actually still works.
I'm in the wrong business
I realize after looking at this insane gear it's making me feel like maybe I went into the wrong profession, but I will keep dreaming just like you and maybe someday I can own a piece of history!
