Estimated build cost: ~$24,635 (based on current listings)
Notable Songs: Heavy Marshall crunch on Kill ’Em All (“Seek & Destroy”) and Ride the Lightning (“For Whom the Bell Tolls”, “Fade to Black”). The iconic tight, scooped Mesa IIC+ tone dominates Master of Puppets (“Master of Puppets”, “Battery”) and …And Justice for All.
Notable Songs: Polished, crushing tones on the Black Album (“Enter Sandman”, “Sad But True”, “Unforgiven”). Continued use on Load, Reload, St. Anger (Diezel VH4 aggression), and Death Magnetic (return to tighter thrash tones).
Fully transitioned to Fractal Axe-Fx III (multiple units) for modeling his favorite amps (Mesa IIC+, Diezel VH4, etc.). This gives perfect consistency night after night, lower weight, and easier tech management. He still blends in real cabs or Matrix power amps on stage for feel and monitoring. Notable Use: Consistent, road-ready sound on the WorldWired and M72 World Tour. Real cabs are still used on stage for feel, while the Axe-Fx handles amp modeling and effects. Studio work on Hardwired…To Self-Destruct and 72 Seasons continues to blend real amps (including a repaired José Arredondo-modded Marshall Plexi).
Most of these effects are recreated in the Axe-FX III but these have been used in his rig historically
Mesa/Boogie 4x12 cabinets (Traditional straight and slant) loaded with Celestion V30 speakers. These are frequently paired with his Mesa and Diezel heads for tight, cutting low-end.
