Here for sale we have an Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE electro-acoustic guitar in Vintage Sunburst finish. Made in Indonesia in 20198, this guitar features an all-solid construction comprising a Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back & sides Mahogany neck and 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard with matching bridge. A Bone saddle & nut are fitted along with a set of Nickel Epiphone open-geared tuners. A sophisticated E-Sonic HD 2 pickup & preamp system is installed, with a ShadowFlex undersaddle piezo pickup & a ShadowNanoMag magnetic pickup, which are wired to shoulder-mounted controls for master volume, independent pickup EQ, blend, phase reverse & an on-board tuner.
The Mahogany neck plays very well. The SlimTaper 'D' profile fills the hand nicely without feeling too large or unwieldy- certainly facilitating a wide range of playing styles & techniques. As a 'D' shape, there is a slightly flattened area to the centre rear which encourages ergonomic thumb positioning up and down the register. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and along with the binding & split diamond inlays adds a sense of luxury to the playing experience. The smooth lines of the dreadnought body are as comfortable in the arms as ever, whilst the cutaway enhances access to the upper frets.
The acoustic voice of the Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE is rich & surprisingly well balanced for a dreadnought. There is certainly plenty of power on offer when strumming, and the instrument definitely fulfils all of our dreadnought expectations. However, there is plenty of detail to be found in the sound too - likely due to the premium all-solid construction. The pair of pickups installed are wired to a comprehensive set of controls which allow you to really get the best from each pickup in any combination, in any setting. There is even a second output for playing in stereo. A seriously well-equipped instrument from Epiphone with a host of premium features.
