The Epiphone DOT is the most straightforward ES-335 reissue in the catalog β named for the dot fingerboard inlays of the original 1958-1961 ES-335 production, before Gibson switched to block inlays.
The late 1990s Korean-made DOT is widely regarded as one of the better-value semi-hollow instruments Epiphone has produced, with consistent build quality and the classic 335 platform in a package that rewards players who want the semi-hollow tone and feel without the full Gibson price. Cherry sunburst on a semi-hollow with chrome hardware is the combination that started the whole conversation in 1958, and it remains the most visually correct configuration for this instrument.
The Alnico Classic neck humbucker reads 8.92k and the Alnico Classic Plus bridge reads 8.42k β closely matched and correctly specified for the semi-hollow application, with the warm, clear character that Alnico magnets produce and the dynamic sensitivity that players associate with the 335 platform specifically. The SlimTaper D mahogany neck at .838" at the first fret and .964" at the twelfth is fast and comfortable. Rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays at 12" radius, 22 frets, Tune-o-Matic bridge with stop bar tailpiece, all original throughout. Wiring and solder joints original. Amber top hat knobs, black pickguard, Gibson-logo truss rod cover. At 8 lbs 8 oz this is correctly weighted for the platform. Action set at 2/32" on both strings at the twelfth fret.
Near mint condition throughout β an exceptionally clean example of late 1990s Korean Epiphone production. Original Epiphone hardshell case in very good condition.
The frets look nearly new, the neck is straight and the action low, and there is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments.
