This 2026 model features an ash wood body with excellent sustain and well-balanced low and high frequency characteristics, and is equipped with Seymour Dunca® pickups developed specifically for the AZ model, mounted in an SSH configuration on the pickguard.

This is the first Prestige model to feature gold-colored hardware.

S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple 1pc neck

This original neck shape was perfected after measuring and analyzing dozens of guitar neck grips, both from Ibanez and other manufacturers.

The neck is shaped to smoothly drop from the fingerboard-neck joint to the fingerboard edge, and the fingerboard edge is rounded for a comfortable grip.

The shape is accurately and reliably reproduced using ball milling.

The shape is particularly designed for ease of gripping at the lower frets and for classical style playability with the thumb resting on the back of the neck at the higher frets.

This guitar uses maple wood treated with "S-TECH processing," a nitrogen heat treatment technology.

S-TECH processed wood has characteristics such as shape stability, resistance to warping, water resistance, and resistance to temperature changes, and is a patented technology in Japan.

Furthermore, the finish uses an oil finish that has the texture of a well-played guitar neck.

S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple Fretboard

The 305mmR fretboard was arrived at after numerous prototypes and trial and error, addressing multiple challenges, including the combination with the neck, to ensure that the sound does not get muffled even with large bends and that chord work does not cause stress on the fingers and hands.

Super All Access Neck Joint

The "Super All Access" neck joint achieves high playability by carving a step with an 8mm height difference from the back of the body and finishing the joint with the neck with a spherical surface.

The bass string side cutaway is designed to be shallower, maximizing the contact area between the body and neck. This achieves both high playability and excellent sustain and resonance.

Oil-impregnated Bone nut / Stainless Steel Frets

The nut is made of oil-impregnated cow bone.

This contributes significantly to tuning stability with its smooth nut action and achieves resonance reminiscent of vintage guitars. The frets are made of stainless steel with a crown width of 2.7mm and a height of 1.4mm, with a hardness of 220. They are easy to maintain, have a fast attack, excellent note separation in chord playing, and clear output in single-note playing.

dyna-MIX 9 switching system with Alter switch

With a single flick of the mini-switch, you can freely switch between humbucker and single-coil modes, ensuring a wide range of sound variations. This switching system is ideal for modern guitar players who need to perform multiple roles with limited equipment.

SSH Model…The neck and center single-coil pickups are wired in series to simulate the sound of a 22-fret neck humbucker.

Seymour Duncan Hyperion Pickups

We obtained dozens of different pickups and measured the frequency characteristics of all of them.

From these, we determined the specifications and sound image of the pickups best suited for the AZ, and created these AZ-exclusive pickups in collaboration with Seymour Duncan, a pickup brand with a long history and a continuous commitment to innovation.

These custom pickups are designed to retain some of the original clean tone even when distorted, with a slightly reduced output, and a focus on picking responsiveness and accuracy.

From treble to bass, and from the 1st to the 6th string, we prioritized overall balance and pursued excellent effect compatibility. All magnets are Alnico-5.

Gotoh T1802 Tremolo Bridge

This bridge is a reimagining of the GOTOH 510 bridge, a highly regarded tremolo bridge among many players and guitar brands,

created through a collaboration between Ibanez and GOTOH.

It features hard, machined titanium saddles and a machined steel inertia block, achieving both excellent attack and a solid, fat sound, while also boasting extended high frequencies.

It employs a two-point floating design for smooth arming and upward tremolo movement.
