πŸ“ About This Listing

Guitar Addictions presents this 2004 Fender Special Edition Lite Ash Stratocaster to motivate your Guitar Addictions!

This Stratocaster is in excellent condition with not much to talk about regarding blemishes and flaws. It has been well cared for and presents itself very well.

It does have some very insignificant superficial scratches about the body that were impossible to catch with the lens. There are no chips, dings, cracks anywhere to be seen. The frets are in great shape, not showing any signs of heavy playing. Fret ends are very smooth, allowing this gorgeous neck to be comfortably played up and down the register. on the fingerboard, in the first couple of cowboy frets, there are some signs of string wear, but it’s only at particular angles and lighting that it can be seen. It’s hardly worth a mention except that I employ A β€œno surprises” approach in disclosing the exact condition of my offerings. On the treble side of the fingerboard, down at the lowest frets, there is a slightly darker area that I’m not quite sure what the cause might be. I’ve included a close-up picture of the area for your examination. The 5-way toggle switch tip stays on without issue but you can see where it has been cracked ages ago. I didn’t pull on it very hard but hard enough to determine it is still secure.

The whammy bar is included, its just only installed in one photograph. This model also came with a heavy brass sustain block. The two-point tremolo is currently decked with a small piece of wood inserted between the body and block.

Obviously, this guitar has some modifications that include a Lace Sensor Blue/Gold Dually in the bridge position. It is a stacked humbucker that combines one "Blue" Lace Sensor single-coil pickup and one "Gold" Lace Sensor single-coil pickup into a single housing. The colors on the Lace Sensor pickups indicate their specific tonal characteristics:

  • The Blue half (bottom): Has increased output with a warmer, fatter '50s humbucking sound.
  • The Gold half (top): Offers a classic, chimey '50s single-coil tone with a pristine bell-like clarity.

Because it is a "Dually," you can use it in full humbucking mode for a thick, high-output tone, or split it to isolate just the Gold or Blue coil for authentic single-coil tones. The two Seymour Duncan pickups are stock and these had another in the bridge, obviously deleted from this particular guitar.

The second tone pot has also been removed to allow for the 3 way toggle. When it is in the middle position, you have the output of both the Gold and Blue Lace sensors. Flip it up for the Gold Lace Sensor, flip it down for the blue.

The little metal toggle switch takes the middle pickup out of phase for even more tonal possibilities.

The Tone 1 knob is push/pull to combine the neck pickup with the bridge pickup for a more Telecaster/Honky Tonk sound.

There is a picture of the wiring/solder work so that you can see the parts employed and the work that was done.

This came with an HSH route that has had EMI shielding paint applied to it. To achieve the space required for the bigger toggle switch, there was a small amount of routing to the bottom of the cavity under the Tone 2 location. Very well done, nice and clean. Please see the included photo.

Lastly. And most obvious, is the solid Cocobolo pickguard. It has had copper shielding applied under the control knobs. If it’s not your style, you can replace It with something of your choice pretty easily and affordable.

These Ash body Strats have that classic and iconic look that Fender no longer offers in its production guitars. Ash bodies Are only available in Fender Special Runs or Fender Custom Shop models.
