About This Listing

The new Yamaha FS5 Red Label guitars are hand crafted in the Nippon factory in Japan, just like the originals made back in the 1960s. This is an excellent guitar with all solid wood construction, with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. The build quality of these guitars is very impressive, especially for the price point. This guitar is very similar to the Martin 000-18 with the vintage look and sound a lot of us love. It has a slightly deeper body than the Martin, along with their A.R.E. treatment (torrefication) giving it a very full and balanced tone. This is a 2025 model that I bought new in April. I had it set up with a K&K Pure Mini Pickup installed by my local luthier here in Colorado. It is in excellent condition with very little playing time, and it has never left the house. I found another guitar that I am purchasing and need to sell this Yamaha for the cash. So no trades, sorry. The Yamaha hardshell case is really nice as well, with a black plush interior and very durable build.

Key specs for the guitar include:

  • Scale length: 25"
  • Nut width: 1.732"
  • Body depth: 4-5/16"
  • Gloss finish
  • Scalloped bracing provides warm, powerful tone with deep lows and rich harmonics
  • Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) treatment imparts the sound and sustain of aged wood
  • All-solid construction with a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides
  • Ebony fingerboard, bridge and bridge pins
  • Bone nut and saddle
