For sale is a 2011 Martin 000-18 guitar, serial number 1496075, in excellent condition that sounds as amazing as you’d expect a guitar from this series to sound. This is part of the Golden Era production as the build sheet included in the pictures shows. Because the 1933 style Ambertone finish wasn’t the typical sunburst (not as pretty in my opinion) produced in the series, the guitar was designated “custom”. It has the identical build characteristics as part of the Golden Era 1937 Authentics. Adirondack Spruce top, with ¼” Adirondack forward-shifted, scalloped top braces. Mahogany back & sides, Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Top nut width is 1-3/4” with the Golden Era neck profile, and modified V shape. Geib-style original case in perfect working condition. I am not the original owner. The original pick guard was replaced with a quality Greven tortoise style, beveled guard that beautifully accents the coloring of the top.
There is minimal play wear on the guitar with small surface scratches too small to photograph well, but I’ve tried to show the most obvious ones in a couple of the photos. There is a slight amount of curvature to the top behind the bridge (not bellied) that can’t be captured by my phone camera. Action at the 12th fret is 5/64” at the bass E, and slightly above 3/64” on the treble side. No cracks or other issues. The original saddle had to be replaced because it had become slightly warped forward in the bridge. It was replaced with a fossil Mammoth ivory saddle as the factory original specification.
I’m reluctant to sell the guitar, but have other 000 instruments and need cash to cover recent expenses. The guitar listed locally on Craigslist as well as other marketing sites, so I reserve the right to end the listing if sold on one of these other platforms. I welcome your questions.
