Here we have a Yamaha SG2000, manufactured in 1980, as dated by the serial number on the back of the headstock as well as the numbers stamped on the back of the pickups. If you’re looking at this listing you are likely familiar with the Yamaha SG’s reputation as “Les Paul killers”. Masterful Japanese craftsmanship. All original. Coil tapped/split pickups that can be controlled by push/pull tone pots to achieve a humbucker sound or single coil sound. Heavy duty brass block under the bridge for added sustain. Beautiful tobacco burst finish. This guitar has been through it in its 46 years of existence - many dings, blemishes, scratches, cigarette burn, finish “clouding”, hardware aging, and a small point of binding separation that can be common in these guitars as they age. I tried to document everything in the photos. Frets are in surprisingly nice shape though with almost no visible pitting. Guitar is nice and heavy - comparable to a Les Paul custom - probably in the neighborhood of ten pounds. Comes with an equally roadworn original hard shell case.
