A 1996 American vintage bass, made in Fender's 50th anniversary year!
The American Vintage series debuted in 1982 and was discontinued in 2018, with its lineage continuing through the American Original and American Vintage II series.
Even now that it's discontinued, American Vintage remains highly popular — especially pre-1990s units, which are becoming scarce and have seen both popularity and prices climb.
This model faithfully reproduces a 1962 Jazz Bass, the golden era of the model, right down to the alder body, slab-board rosewood fingerboard, stacked volume/tone knobs on each pickup, and reverse-wind tuners of that era.
A classic, standard Jazz Bass tone, with rich midrange harmonics and a low-centered, focused sound that stands out. You get the sweet tone characteristic of American Vintage!
A "Fender 50th Anniversary" sticker remains on the back of the headstock, making this a genuinely special piece!
