About This Listing

Peavey 5150 Block Letter w/RARE Sylvania USA made 6L6GC Power Tubes & Shuguang Factory made Square Getter 12AX7 Preamp Tubes (MADE IN USA)

The iconic birth and essential bread & butter of amazing high gain tube amp tone is hands down the Peavey 5150. Eddie Van Halen’s signature amplifier head that first came out in the year 1992 which gave tons of heavy music its special soul/mojo, whatever you wanna call it, on countless albums we all love to this day and even fresh new albums coming out everyday!

Aside from it being one of the best sounding high gain amps you can own and buy, this is the special first edition Block Letter version that was not manufactured long/way less made then sig logo version. Electro Voice company reached out to Peavey and asked if they would change the logo EVH to something else since it was too similar to their EV (Electro Voice) logo. Peavey obeyed their command and changed the logo to Eddie Van Halen‘s SIGNATURE instead. This amp will always go up in value so if you decide to sell later in life it will be a nice bonus!

The output transformer in block letters were slightly different too! Which has a great effect on why the block letters feel/sound better and have more special mojo to them. For more info on this, copy and paste these links below in your browser and fix the space after : in the https:

Most importantly, this amp head has the original highly sought after unicorn USA made Sylvania Peavey Super 6 stamped 6L6GC power tubes 😮. The reason these tubes last so long is their quality but also because these amps are not super hot biased and generally cold side (lower current draw) for head room because the preamp section is where most of the gain/overdrive comes from. Another key thing to get the authentic block letter tone is having the original Shuguang factory China made square getter preamp tubes from 1990s which this amp has 😮.

This amp is in excellent condition for its age overall! Has mild wear on faceplate you find on most of them and the top vent corners broken off which is very common. NO MISSING HARDWARE! NO MISSING KNOBS!

*Included is the original 1990s Peavey 5150 correct footswitch!* 😮👌

Professionally overhauled/serviced with clean bill of health! Both the power and preamp tubes tested good with none that are microphonic and lots life left! V1 posistion - pre amp section has the lowest noise tube in it out of the 5 via tap testing! Main connections all deoxidized and everything functioning as it should! Ready to plug in and play worry free! 🎸🤘🍻

Currently has:

Quad of the original rare USA made Sylvania 6L6GC Peavey stamped Super 6 power tubes in power section.😮

Preamp section: 5 of the original 12AX7 tubes from the early 1990s highly regarded Shuguang factory. These tubes are also used in all the early revision Mesa Boogie Rectifier Amps. 😮

The amp sounds and feels absolutely crushing with clarity!🎸🤘
