These Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop Firebirds are seriously great instruments—clear, punchy, articulate, with amazing tone. The overall quality, feel, and playability are excellent, making this a guitar that’s equally at home on stage or in the studio.
This Firebird has been upgraded with a set of Steinberger gearless tuners. They’re a huge improvement over the original tuners, which are notoriously bulky and heavy. The Steinbergers significantly reduce the weight at the headstock and give the guitar a much cleaner, more streamlined feel while also making tuning quick and precise.
The finish is black nitro lacquer over the original Heather Poly finish. It has some honest patina and signs of use, including a few small dings, finish checking and some finish cracks, but they really add to the character of the guitar. It has that naturally worn, road-ready look that looks especially great under stage lights, and the finish should continue to develop nicely with age.
This is not a mint-condition museum piece—it’s a played, great-sounding instrument with some tasteful battle marks, and the cosmetic wear is reflected in the overall vibe of the guitar. If you like guitars that look like they’ve been played rather than sitting in a case, this one has a lot of appeal.
Includes the original hard case and new truss rod cover.
