Outstanding One Owner 1962 Gibson Melody Maker (Double cutaway / Single pick-up version)
Fantastic original/unrestored condition with very light vintage wear for a ‘65 year old Melody Maker. The vibrant tobacco sunburst finish has very light “checking“ as does the back, headstock, and neck. There are a few very light belt buckle scratches on the back. The entire edge of the body and horns, neck, and fingerboard are in really nice condition as well and are not rubbed through anywhere. The original pickguard has very light pick scratch marks which are hard to see in the photo which further shows that this MM has seen very little use. I see no bad cracks, deep gouges, etc. only a few small marks here and there. Not perfect..not mint….but, all in all, a really nice collectable guitar that plays and sounds very good. All original knobs, frets, pickup, pick guard, jack, tuners, strap post mounts, screws, alligator case, electrical, etc.. Note that the only “issue” that I came across was that the tuner knob shaft for the D string is very slightly bent (+/-1/32”) and hard to see in the photo. I only noticed while twisting the knob when I re-strung it. Knob is tight and tuner functions as it should (see pic). The two tuner sets are otherwise smooth, tight and function just as they should. The Gibson HS case that is also included was primarily used so that the somewhat fragile original alligator case could be safely stored away and better preserved. *Guitar stand pictured is not included.
