Rickenbacker 2020 Model 620

Drawn to Rickenbacker's utterly unique looks, but find the classic hollow-bodied 330 or 360 a bit too big for you - and wish there were a Rickenbacker that stayed tighter and more sustain-rich when driven?

Rickenbacker is famous as an icon of rock legends including The Beatles, but it also carries a certain reputation: an instrument mainly for strumming chords, with a body that feels delicate and hard to handle. That image can be a real obstacle for a guitar-vocalist who wants to strum hard while singing on stage, or a player who wants to cut loose with an emotional solo in the upper positions.

This is the most practical, toughest solid-body model, one that overturns that image of Rickenbacker entirely. At a glance it looks small and cute, but inside it's packed with genuine top-tier-model DNA.

It inherits the DNA of the 625, the top solid-body model born in 1962, including a luxurious through-body neck construction running from end to end. This delivers stress-free access up to the highest positions and a gorgeously sustained tone that defies Rickenbacker's usual image.

The wave-like, distinctive crestwave-cutaway body is very compact, yet the neck has a solid, chunky grip that never feels flimsy in the hand. Despite its delicate looks, it offers outstanding stability for hard, aggressive strumming.

The tonal character really stands out too. Switch to the rear pickup and Rickenbacker's signature crisp, bright top end cuts straight through a band mix. Switch to the front pickup, and you get a surprisingly warm, thick, deep tone that works perfectly well for jazz or vocal-backing rhythm playing too.

The 600 series carries a design tradition going back to 1958, beautifully refined by the father of the modern Rickenbacker, Roger Rossmeisl. Its compact solid body handles beautifully, and it's an especially striking look for a female guitar-vocalist to hold on stage - second to none for turning heads.

The ideal solution for anyone who loves the classic beauty of Rickenbacker but wants solid-body toughness and sustain: the perfect fit the instant you pick it up, paired with a bright, exhilarating tone.
