Vintage offset guitar made in Japan from 1981-1983. Guitar is in very good condition and fully functional. Cosmetically there are light scratches on the back which are visible and a couple of scuffs/chips on the headstock. I don't think the scratches were caused by a belt buckle as the scratches are very superficial. The scratches are clearly visible and perceptible to the touch but they are very light. I don't know if the scratches would be perceptible to the touch if I didn't know they were there.
The SSC 500 is often associated with Jerry Garcia and referred to in Grateful Dead circles as "Jerry's guitar".
I like the SSC 500 because there a lot of tonal capabilities but the electronics are simple and intuitive. I also like the pickups which to my ears are preferable to a traditional Fender Stratocaster of the same era.
